By this point, most of you are probably already familiar with CBD isolate and the many different forms it comes in, but what about CBG? What is CBG concentrate? CBG is quickly gaining noteriety for its growing list of benefits. CBG is known as the “mother of all cannabinoids,” but does CBG cocentrate live up to the hype? We’ll break down what is CBG concentrate and everything else you need to know about CBG in this post.

What is CBG Isolate?

Similar to CBD and other compounds, CBG is also found inside the hemp plant. It goes all the way back to the 1960’s when it was first discovered. What really separates CBG from everything else is the fact that it can be considered as the parent of all other cannabinoids. For a more technical explanation, other compounds are synthesized from cannabigerol and it acts as a precursor to them.

This means that CBG can offer a variety of benefits on its own. It works by interacting with the endocannabinoid system inside our bodies and produces a number of therapeutic effects. It is also non-psychoactive which makes it a good option for those who are unsure about consuming hemp based products.

CBG isolate is the purest form of this cannabinoid and is available in a white powder form. It can be mixed with edibles and topicals depending on the use. It is odorless and tasteless, which is a good thing for many people since they do not want anything altering the taste of their favorite foods.

How Is CBG Isolate Made?

To create an isolate, the CBG must be extracted from the hemp plant. A big challenge in the past with extracting CBG was that it used to be present in very minute quantities inside the hemp plant, less than 1 percent in some cases. For comparison, if there was a hemp strain with 20% CBD, then you would need to extract around 20 times more of the biomass to get the same amount of CBG. That is no longer the case, however, as there are hemp strains that are high in CBG. This has been made possible due to the fact that farmers are able to grow more CBG dominant strains which has also helped significantly lower the cost as compared to last year.

CBG Benefits and Should You Use It?

Since research on CBG concentrate is still fairly new, the complete range of benefits it can offer are still unknown. However, there are still some studies out there, for example, a study in 2008 found out that CBG may be beneficial for the treatment of MRSA since it has antibacterial properties. Additionally, animal studies suggested that it might be beneficial for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease as well.

Since CBG isolate is pure, it is easy to measure out the servings which means that 1mg of isolate will translate to exactly 1mg of CBG.
