As more hemp-based products are showing up in the market, it is natural to have questions about them. Everywhere you go you’ll see a “CBD this” and a “hemp that” but what is CBD tincture? We’ll break down everything you need to know about CBD and hemp oil extract tinctures and give you a few pro-tips on the best ways to use CBD tinctures in this post.

What is CBD?

For those who are new, the first question usually is about CBD. CBD (Cannabidiol) is a cannabinoid and one of many compounds found inside the hemp plant. When consumed, CBD works by interacting with the endocannabinoid system that is already present inside our bodies.

CBD is usually available for consumption in a number of different ways, from isolates to oils and tinctures. You can read up in detail about CBD isolates, CBD oil, and CBD carrier oil in our articles.

What are Tinctures?

A herbal tincture by definition is made by creating a mixture of alcohol and water, however, the tinctures offered by Bloom are free of alcohol. Instead, they are created using a blend of pure hemp extract, the best quality CBD isolate and an organic MCT (Medium Chain Triglyceride) for easier absorption.

How to Use CBD Tinctures

Since tinctures contain concentrated CBD, they are meant to be consumed in smaller servings. This is why tincture bottles usually come with a dropper that allow for easily measurable quantities.

Hemp extract CBD tinctures can be consumed in a number of ways, the quickest one being sublingually. By putting it under the tongue for 30-60 seconds, CBD is absorbed easily and delivered quickly. Servings of tinctures can also be mixed with your favorite meals or even beverages such as tea or coffee but, like most oils, oil and water don’t mix well so use accordingly.

The serving size of a CBD tincture that you will be consuming depends on a number of factors, namely the bottle size, CBD content, and your weight. Most bottles that are available in the market usually come in 30 mL size including the ones offered by us here at Bloom Hemp. As a general rule of thumb, however, 1 mL of CBD tincture is usually considered as a single serving which turns out to be around 20 drops.

When considering weight, a 20 mg serving will affect a person weighing 110 lbs differently as compared to someone weighing 210 lbs. It will take some trial and error to figure out the serving size that works for you. We recommend a titration method which simply means starting off with a smaller serving size and working your way up to the suggested serving size if you are not comfortable with the full serving size right away.

Effects of CBD Tincture

Since different people respond to CBD in different ways, the effects of consuming a CBD tincture will definitely vary. Some people can end up experiencing the effects within 10 minutes while for others it can take as long as 40 minutes. Both full-spectrum and zero THC options are available depending on your requirements.

We recommend setting up a CBD journal to keep track of how each serving affects you, allowing you to easily tweak it in the long run.

Should You Use a CBD Tincture?

It all depends on your preferred method of CBD consumption. While there are many different CBD based products out there, tinctures offer quick benefits and ease of use.
