CBD Isolate vs CBD Oil

Team Bloom 02 Apr 2020 3 MIN READ

There are a great number of CBD products available on the market right now. Out of these, CBD isolate and CBD oil are two of the most popular ones. Each offer their own set of benefits, but it can be confusing for many to pick the right one, especially for those who are just getting started on their CBD journey.

What is CBD Isolate?

If you have been looking up CBD online, then you have definitely come across the name ‘CBD Isolate’. In simple terms, CBD Isolate is the purest form of CBD out there. It is free from any of the other compounds found inside the hemp plant.

The reason behind its popularity is that it offers users with quite a few options on how to consume it. Not only that, the servings can be managed easily and there is no risk of THC.

Many people prefer to mix the isolate with food and prepare their own recipes. You can read more about CBD isolate here or if you are looking for some recipes, then you can check out our top three CBD isolate recipes.

What is CBD Oil?

It is important to first understand the difference between bulk CBD oil and a CBD oil tincture. Bulk CBD oil is the concentrated extract obtained directly from the hemp plant. A CBD tincture on the other hand is a combination of bulk CBD oil and base oil along with some other ingredients which can be added as desired.

Bulk CBD oil can usually refer to one of two types, broad-spectrum oil and full-spectrum oil. Broad-spectrum oils contain everything which is present inside the hemp plant except for THC. This can be important for many people since they have to regularly go through drug tests at work. Also, while broad spectrum oils may contain other components of the plant, i.e. other cannabinoids, terpenes, and other phytonutrients, the quantity of those other components are typically not considered to be in great amount. Finally, full-spectrum CBD oils contain everything that is present inside the hemp plant, i.e. other cannabinoids, including the minute percentage of THC, terpenes, and other phytonutrients, but typically in greater quantities than broad spectrum oils. Full-spectrum CBD oil is sometimes preferred for the entourage effect it can offer, meaning that all of the compounds work together to produce a combined effect, with each offering it’s own benefit to the user.

How Does it Work?

As mentioned earlier, CBD oils are composed of a few ingredients, namely a bulk CBD oil, a carrier oil, and sometimes other natural ingredients for specific intenets. The carrier oil is mostly a medium chain triglyceride such as coconut oil. Carrier oils can help the body absorb CBD in a more efficient manner.

How to use CBD Oil?

CBD oil can be consumed in a number of ways but the most popular one is through the use of a CBD oil tincture. It can be put directly under the tongue and a dropper can usually be taken as a full serving. Additionally, you can also mix it with certain foods or make CBD infused fruit smoothies.
