Are you taking too much CBD?

“How much should I take?” is a question all of us should be asking whenever we add a new supplement to our daily routine. Anytime you’re prescribed medicine or pick up something over the counter, the instructions are clear: “Take X twice daily…” Unfortunately, determining a universally appropriate dosage for pure CBD isn’t feasible because everyone is different. Trying a one-size-fits-all solution will more than likely do you a disservice. Fortunately, there are a few rules of thumb to help you determine a CBD dosage that works best for you and delivers the effects you desire. Knowing how to determine an optimal dose for yourself will help you understand why there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution when taking hemp oil extract tinctures and hemp concentrates.

How much CBD should I take?

You buy a CBD product for the first time, and after leaving the store or website, you realize that you forgot to ask one of the most critical questions: “How much CBD should I take?” The short answer is – it depends. Your CBD dosage depends 100% on YOU because everyone is unique, and cannabinoids perform optimally when they work naturally with our endocannabinoid system. That being said, here are a few simple ways to figure out if you are taking too much CBD and how to determine the best CBD dosage for you.

CBD Oil Dosage

1. Start with a small dose

Starting small is always the way to go to avoid taking too much CBD. Your goal is to find the lowest possible effective dose without side effects. Listen to your body and increase your dosage as necessary. Remember, everyone is different, and it may take a few days of consistent usage to begin to feel the effects of the CBD product.

2. Track Everything!

Record your experience! Keep track of your body’s response to different doses and be as detailed as possible.

3. The Big Five!

There are FIVE factors that influence the strength of the CBD dose you need:

  1. Weight
  2. Body Fat Percentage
  3. Strength of CBD
  4. Ailment You are Treating
  5. Severity of the Ailment

4. Personal Chemistry

All of us are unique, and as a result, we all have slightly different body chemistry. Some of us are more prone to feel the effects of CBD, while others may naturally require a higher dose. The key is to experiment and find what works best for you when using CBD.

5. Are you taking ENOUGH CBD?

While some people are worried about taking too much CBD, most people aren’t taking ENOUGH CBD. Although we recommend adjusting your dose gradually, you’ll definitely want to reference our CBD dosage chart below to ensure that you are taking enough CBD to meet your needs and experience the desired effect.

Plants Over Pills

The good news is taking too much CBD shouldn’t hurt you. So far, the only reported side-effects of taking too much CBD are rare, but they include:

  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea (usually too much MCT oil)
  • Nausea
  • Changes in weight/appetite
  • Dry Mouth
  • Low Blood Pressure

Fatigue is the most common side effect of CBD, so be aware of this if you are new to cannabidiol.

Women who are pregnant/breastfeeding should not use CBD oil because the side effects on young children are still unknown.

CBD Dosage Chart

Everyone is different, and while we can’t recommend an exact dose for every CBD user, we can give you an estimate based on customer feedback. Our CBD dosage chart is a great way to estimate how much CBD you should take.

Use the charts below for an approximant recommended dose according to your weight and CBD dosage requirements. Remember to always check with your physician before starting any new supplements.

Understanding CBD Oil Dosage

Now that we made sure you won’t take too much CBD and you understand how much CBD you need, it’s time to figure out your CBD oil dosage. Every method of ingesting CBD is different, and most people don’t know precisely how much CBD they are taking with a traditional dropper. At Bloom, we’ve made it easy to identify how much CBD you need and how much CBD is in each dose.

If you are using a 600mg hemp oil tincture:

One full dropper contains 20mg of CBD

If you are using a 1200mg hemp oil tincture:

One full dropper contains 40mg of CBD

If you are using an 1800mg hemp oil tincture:

One full dropper contains 60mg of CBD

If you are using one of our essential tinctures:

One full dropper contains 43mg of cannabinoids (CBD and CBG or CBN)

The dropper for Bloom Hemp’s CBD oil is graduated so that you can accurately measure out exact doses.

CBD isolate dosage

CBD Isolate can be more difficult to gauge, but this potent form of CBD is worth understanding if you want to use isolate properly.

We’ve made it easy for our customers to use CBD isolate by providing you with a measuring spoon. When full, this spoon contains approximately 50-60mg of CBD. If you’re looking to measure out a more exact dose of CBD isolate, we recommend looking on Amazon for a kitchen scale.

CBD topical usage

CBD topicals are great because they provide targeted relief to localized areas. Use as much as you see fit. Since CBD topicals are not ingested, you do not have to worry about using too much CBD.

Softgels dosage

CBD softgels are the easiest way to supplement a consistent dose of CBD. Our CBD softgels contain precisely 25mg of CBD in every capsule it is easy to measure out your desired CBD dosage daily.

So, are you taking too much CBD?

No, you probably aren’t taking too much CBD, and the real question worth asking is, are you taking enough. This CBD dosage guide is an excellent rule of thumb, but the only way to honestly figure out how much CBD you should take is through careful trial and error.
